CURATORIAL PROJECTS > LoCAL.portraits at ART227, 2010

Louisville, KY: ART227 and artist/curator Daniel Pfalzgraf presents a Louisville Contemporary Art Lounge blockbuster exhibition “LoCAL Portraits.” This exhibition will be a culmination of literally a who’s who of the Louisville contemporary art scene, all brought together under one roof. The exhibition opens with a reception for the artists on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 6pm – 10pm and will continue through Saturday, May 1, 2010.

As the title of the exhibit implies, it is an exhibit themed entirely around portraiture. Portraits have the unique ability to reflect ourselves and those around us more intimately than any other form of visual art. This exhibition will give us a glimpse into the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions of some of this city’s greatest artists as they penetrate into their subjects and masterfully interpret our community at large.
Participating artists include many well-regarded portrait artists, as well as a surprising selection of acclaimed artists that will be working outside of their usual genres. Artists involved with “LoCAL Portraits” include:
Julius Friedman, Ed Hamilton, Stephen Irwin, Raymond Graf, Gaela Erwin, Brad White, Matthew Weir, Martin Rollins, Letitia Quesenberry, Valerie Sullivan Fuchs, Rodney Hatfield, David Bibelhauser, Shayne Hull, Sarah Lyon, Carlos Gamez de Francisco, Emil Walton, and Daniel Pfalzgraf.
